STATIC

Static can be a total nuisance. I know it drives me batty once the cold weather gets here and it makes my hair stand up on end! However, static can be quite fun if you just know how to control it.
As you can see, Lyla and I decided to make the best out of the electrical currents. LOL! Our hair was so crazy! It was literally standing on end! It was also quite tricky to get these pictures, as I had to hold the camera and the pillow over Lyla's head. So be grateful! LOL!

I'M A BLOGGING SLACKER

Yes friends, I know I have been slacking in the blogging department. Life has been hectic lately. Not really anything in particular, just lots of little things. I do have some cute pictures to post of Lyla and whatnot, but alas, I am too lazy to do that at the moment.

Instead, how about a quick update? Yes? Okay. :)
  • Lyla is now cutting 7 teeth! Two top ones have already popped in.
  • She is also starting to take steps in between the furniture! She is getting so brave, and I suspect she will be walking soon.
  • I still haven't taken my GED yet, but I will be soon. I have to go down and register on one day, and then take the test on another, which would be fine if I didn't live a freaking HOUR away from the school!
  • I have another photo shoot this weekend! I am so excited!
  • My hair is getting hecka long, and I can't decide if I want to cut it again, or let it grow out some more. Any thoughts?
  • My sister is FINALLY done with volleyball!!
  • Its been so cold here! Yes, Arizona can be cold. It was 55° here for the HIGH! But, by Sunday its supposed to be back to 85! Will you just make up your mind already weather!?!
  • We got our dog a shock collar. Muhahahaha!

Okie doke, there you have it. Some random updates. I apologize that my life if uber borning at the moment. I hope you can all bare with me until something interesting happens! Haha! So, how have ya'll been?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOMMY!

Today is my wonderful mother's birthday! Mom, I really hope that you had an awesome day. I know as you get older, birthdays aren't always joyous times, but I pray that we were able to make your day special anyways. :)
Though we may not have gotten you anything, just know that Alexa and I love you more than anything. You are an amazing mother, and you keep this family together. I know that we have had and are having some very stressful times, but you really keep me going. I know we have been kinda harsh around each other lately, but I know it's because we are both stressed. I just wanted to stop and say that no matter what happens, I love you to death.

I had an amazing time going out to dinner with you. Hanging out with you, Daddy, Lexy, Craig, and Lyla was a really fun time, and I hope it meant a lot to you. Have an amazing night birthday girl! I love you so much!

Also....we.....got......TIRAMISU!!!!! Yay!!!

FRIEND MAKIN' MONDAY

If life were a movie, which movie would you want to live in?

This is a SUPER tough topic! I am a movie junkie! For real! My whole life is spent quoting movies. But since I can only pick one, I would have to pick...

Next to Forrest Gump, August Rush is one of my favorite movies of all time. It beautifully captures the pure essence and meaning of music. This movie stole my heart from the beginning, and it will always be one of my favorites. Not to mention this movie is where I got Lyla's name from. :) It will forever hold a special place in my heart.

HOMECOMING 2009

Homecoming was so amazing! I am so so so glad I decided to go! This year, the dance was right after the football game. I was kinda upset by that at first, but it really turned out wonderful.

First, Alexa, Mom, Dad, Lyla, and I headed out to Garett's house to get pictures of the lovely couple. We hung there for a while, and I snapped away. :) The looked so adorable together!

Next, Lexy and I headed to the school. I had the amazing honor to sing with my former choir. I felt so happy that they let me sing even though I don't go to the school anymore. We sang the national anthem, and our school's Alma mater. It was wonderful. :)

Then we KICKED THE CRAP OUT OF PARKER HIGH! We beat them 63-16!!! I see our school winning state in the very near future. Lyla did wonderful, and had an awesome time watching the game. Every time we scored, she would raise her hands up in the air and scream! Haha! It was so stinking cute! Alexa was also named Homecoming Duchess at halftime. :) I was so proud of her! The Sophomore class picked her as their class royalty! And she thinks she isn't popular. Haha!

Finally Alexa and I headed over to the dance. This years theme was Black Tie Affair, so my dress was perfect!! I had a blast at the dance! I did feel a bit awkward sometimes though. I mostly followed Garett and Alexa around all night! Haha! I am a horrible socializer believe it or not. But it was fun anyways.

After the dance, Lexy, Garett, and I headed over to Denny's at midnight to grab some food. :) We ran into some friends who were at the dance, and said hey to them for a bit. Once our meal concluded, I drove Mr. Garett home, and Lex and I hit the sack about 10 mins once we walked into our house. It was an awesome night. :)

As always, here are some pictures, there might be an overload, so bare with me. :)

VINCENT VAN LYLA

Lyla and I tried something new the other day! I sat her little butt down at the kitchen table, got out a piece of blank paper and a couple of colored pencils, and let her have at it! This was her very first time coloring! Haha! It was so cute! She got REALLY excited, but didn't know what to do! Of course she tried to put them all in her mouth, but I nipped that in the bud before she really got into it. :P

We probably "colored" for about a half an hour! She never once drew anything, but she gave it her best try! I help coloring swirls and stuff to try to get her to copy me, but no such luck. She did have fun though. :) We are going to try again soon. Once she finally does color something, I will post it on here. Yay! In the meantime, here is her at her first coloring session. :)

AN ORANGEY TEETHING REMEDY

Okay, so Lyla is getting about 7 teeth AT THE SAME TIME, and she is in a lot of pain and discomfort. I have tried pretty much everything I could think of to help her out. I have given her Tylenol, teething buscuits, teething ring, frozen washcloth, everything! Them my mom had an amazing idea!

CARROTS!!

No joke! I gave Lyla a carrot right out of the fridge {yes I washed it first! What kinda of a mother do you think I am!?! LOL!} Anyways, the cold hard carrot really worked! She was gnawing on that thing for like an hour! She drug it all along the house with her, chewing on it! Bah! It was so stinkin' cute! And because it was so cute, I just HAD to snap some pictures right? LOL!

Well, there you have it. A non-so-common way to relieve teething pain. Maybe you can try it with your kiddos. If anything, it will give them better eye-sight. LOL!
