We probably "colored" for about a half an hour! She never once drew anything, but she gave it her best try! I help coloring swirls and stuff to try to get her to copy me, but no such luck. She did have fun though. :) We are going to try again soon. Once she finally does color something, I will post it on here. Yay! In the meantime, here is her at her first coloring session. :)

VINCENT VAN LYLA
Lyla and I tried something new the other day! I sat her little butt down at the kitchen table, got out a piece of blank paper and a couple of colored pencils, and let her have at it! This was her very first time coloring! Haha! It was so cute! She got REALLY excited, but didn't know what to do! Of course she tried to put them all in her mouth, but I nipped that in the bud before she really got into it. :P

For learning to color, washable markers (Crayola - they wash out best) are the way to go! :-) That is because they make marks practically with no effort - but the child sees the marks and thinks they did it - and life is good!
ReplyDeleteI read your blog all the time. You don't know me. You are a great Mom, and I love your blog.
I used markers for Claire. They're easier to push around the paper. Just, make sure they're washable or she's not wearing anything that isn't considered play clothes. Crayola actually makes special crayons and markers for toddlers. I need to get some of them! I always forget to check the price when I'm at Target.
ReplyDeleteMy nephew has a cool drawing thing that is great for making no mess. Its a big white mat that comes with a pen that you fill with water. When the water goes onto the mat it makes the "ink" show up the drawing - and the good thing is if they try to paint the walls too its only water so just makes a little wet mark that dries quickly. I guess the only downside is that you can't keep the drawings :(
ReplyDeleteLove the pics of Lyla!
