Spring Has Sprung

Yes ladies and gents, the Vernal Equinox has made her debut! For us out here in AZ it is a bitter sweet time. While we enjoy the warmer weather, Spring is just another reminder that the 100+ degree weather is just around the corner.

Although the Summer is on it's way, for now, I will sit back and enjoy the warmer days and cooler evenings. Plus I can wear dresses! YES!! Oh, and who can forget the beautiful blooming flowers? So pretty! Happy Spring everyone!

WHOOT!!

Hey all! I don't have much time to update right now, as I am heading up to Sedona in an hour, but I just wanted to let you all know that the follow up interview we AMAZING! I really really think that this job is mine.

I interviewed with two other ladies, and they were sooo impressed with me! They even told me so! Haha! They kept hinting at things like "Well, when you start with you be able to handle {blank}" and things like that. I pray to God on my KNEES that I get this job. I think it would be so wonderful for me and Lyla both.

With this job, I should be able to be out on my own by this summer! I will finally be able to take care of myself, and my daughter. I can't wait! Also, I'm testing for my GED soon! Yay! I have been studying like a mad woman, and I am yawning because I already know this stuff! Haha! I am gonna rock that test!

Anywho, hope you all are having a blessed Thursday. I am off to go and watch some high school volleyball! Pictures of beautiful Sedona will also be coming! :) Toodles!

I ♥ FACES | SOMETHING BLUE

It's another lovely day over at I ♥ Faces! Today's Theme: Something Blue. "All photos entered this week have to have some shade of the color blue featured in them (the color should be featured strongly.) If you'd like to incorporate a "blue" expression on the face, that would awesome as well, but please make sure that the color blue is a strong feature of your photo as well."

I think the blue in this photo is pretty self-explanatory. I was so blessed to give birth to a daughter with such beautiful blue eyes. They truly are her best feature. When I heard that I ♥ Faces was doing a "blue" theme this week, I knew immediately that I wanted to feature Lyla's beautiful blue eyes. :) So, whad'ya think? Is she gonna be a heart breaker or what!?! :D

I ♥ FACES: COMPLETLEY CANDID

Hey peeps! I know I haven't really been keeping up with the I ♥ Faces posts, but I have an excuse! LOL! Anywho, I am here today, and that is all that matters. :) Right?

Okay, this week's topic is Completely Candid. I must confess, I picture I am going to post is not really candid. It is more like pseudo-candid. It looks candid, but I actually took it myself. :P

Beautimous! If I do say so myself. LOL! I am feeling a little conceited today: GET OVER IT! LOL! Just kidding my friends. :) But seriously, I just love the composition of this photo. I don't really remember what I was thinking about while taking this picture, but it must have been lovely. :)

So there you have it. I am back on the I ♥ Faces band wagon. Hopefully I can keep up!

I ♥ FACES: BEFORE & AFTER

This week at I ♥ Faces Amy and Angie are taking a little break, so I get to post more than one photo! LOL! This week's topic is Before & After. What you do is post a picture {or two} from when you first started your photography skills. Then you post a picture of what your photography is like now, and how it has improved. It should be fun! Lets take a look and mine! :D

This was a few days after Lyla was born. I was just barley becoming serious about photography. At the time, I was extremely proud of this picture. I had just downloaded the GIMP, and learned how to use Selective Colorization. I still think this is a beautiful picture, but it could be better. :P

These two photos were during my "natural" phase of photography. I was trying to make every picture look natural, with natural light and all that jazz. However, it was quite hard. You see, my camera at the time was not that good of quality, which made picture taking pretty frustrating.

Ahh, the "over-used-eye-pop" stage. Lovely. I had just learned how to do an eye pop on my photo's and overdid it on almost EVERY single photo of Lyla. LOL! I was so excited that I could make her eyes sparkle, but now it just kinda looks freaky!

This was my "vignette" stage. I was trying to give my photo's a nice warm/soft look, so obviously it was with a vignette! Right? Haha, I think it looks OK, but not great. It needs to be feathered more.

FINALLY, I got a new camera. My beautiful Canon PowerShot. It is a more advanced camera, but not a DSLR. I guess you could say that it is what some call a "bridge" camera. Along with my little beauty, I also got version 7 of Photoshop. So with those two tools, I started taking better pictures. :)

You can see that this picture is much clearer, and is more natural looking. I downloaded some nice actions that helped a lot, but I then started doing something else......I OVER softened Lyla's face. She looked like bad airbrushed model! LOL!

Finally, I have the look I was trying for for so long. My photography is still evolving and changing. And I really want to learn as much as I can, but I think my pictures are starting to display me in them. I want photos that are fresh and different, retro and cool, sweet and classy. I think I am coming closer to reaching that goal, but I still have a long long way to go. I can't wait to continue my photography journey. :) Thanks for stopping by!

This week I chose to use a photo and me and Lexy! :D I just have so much fun taking pictures with her, and laughing at how goofy we look! I would love to post a million of these pictures, but I am only allowd to post one. LOL!

This picture was taken on our couch! LOL! We were just sitting around waiting for church to start. :) I busted out the camera and started snapping! Looking at this picture makes me almost laugh out loud!

I ♥ FACES: NOSTALGIA

Alrighty folks, I am not gonna lie here, this weeks I ♥ Faces theme was a real tough one. This weeks theme is nostalgia. Something that brings back a fond memory or feeling. I really don't expect to win a prize with this photo seeing as how it is an old photo I took a picture of!!! Haha! My parents don't really ever keep anything that we don't need. This means that we don't really have anything that I used to play with as a kid, not old dishes, no saved baby clothes. Nothin'. So I just decided to take a picture of my sister in her Cosy Coop! Yes, this week features Alexa once again! Haha! Alexa and I LOVED our Cosy Coop! It probably brings back some of the best memories of just riding around in that thing for hours! :D So here it is, my take on Nostalgia.

I ♥ FACES: BUBBLES

This weeks theme at I ♥ Faces is bubbles! I really thought hard about this one. I just couldn't seem to think of any pictures I had with bubbles in them. Lyla and I have yet to play with any bubbles, so that was out. Finally I realized that I had an adorable bubble picture! Lexy, this week features you once again!

So this picture has quite a funny story to it. Before school started Mom had us doing chores every day. On Tuesday's we had to clean the kitchen. You know, mop, vacuum, counters, sink, the whole nine yards. Well I was vacuuming and Alexa was filling up the sink to mop the floors. She leaves for a few to do something in the bathroom, and comes back to the sink OVERFLOWING with suds!!! I mean, this sink was FILLED WITH BUBBLES! It was hilarious! Needless to say we had a bit of a bubble fight. :P You have to have fun somehow when your cleaning house, right? Anywho, this is one of the pictures produced from that sud-filled day of cleaning the kitchen.

I ♥ FACES MONDAY!

This is my very first go at the I ♥ Faces weekly photo challenge! I am very excited! This weeks theme is Crazy, Silly, Funny faces. For my Monday entry, I will be using a lovely picture of my crazy Lexy! She always takes the silliest pictures, and yet, she can make them look so good!

This silly picture was taken two weeks ago at our local pizza joint. We were just finished up with my high school registration so we grabbed a bite to eat. We were killing some time, waiting to head back to the school for Lexy's volleyball camp, so we took some silly pictures! This is my favorite one from that day. The funky colors just add to the overall silliness of the photo. Thanks Lexy for letting me use you for I ♥ Faces this week! Love ya!

FIX-IT FRIDAY

Okay everyone, so along with participating in the MckLinky Blog Hop every week, I am also going to be participating in the the I ♥ Faces weekly Fix-It Fridays and Weekly Photo Themes. I really want to improve my photography skills, as well as show all you loyal readers some of my work. So please feel free to let me know how you think I did [Please? Haha]

Here is my very first attempt at a Fix-It Friday! Yay!

Here is a quick run-down of what I did with this photo:

• Cropped just a bit of the background off the right hand side of the photo.
• Applied an "Eye Define" action and popped his eyes. [Opacity at about 60%]
• Applied the "Creamy Chocolate B&W" Action by CoffeeShop Actions.
• Turned the opacity of the "chocolate" layer to 100%
• Turned down the Black and While layer to about 70% to let some of the color shine through.
• Used the paintbrush on the "creamy" layer mask. Painted over the boy to sharpen him a bit.

So there you have it! :D That's my contribution to this weeks Fix-It Friday! Whoo Hoo! Oh, and I also edited in Photoshop Version 7.0 for those who were wondering.
